The Ministry of Health and Sanitation has Conducted a Day Orientation Meeting for Religious Leaders on COVID-19

In an effort to prevent the entering of COVID-19 in Sierra Leone,the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has conducted a day orientation meeting today 18 March 2020 for Inter-religious leaders.
The objectives of the meeting was
* To increase awareness on the preventive and control measures of COVID-19
* To capacitate religious leaders so that they can include COVID-19 preventive messages in their preaching.
Mr Harold Thomas, Program Manager of Health Education in his opening statements said that; the reason why Inter-religious leaders were called upon was that, the religious leaders are very important in Society and they usually play an important role to help prevent an outbreak.
He further said, during the past Ebola Outbreak the role played by them really manifest how important the religious leaders are in society.
He then concluded by saying as of now the country has not recorded any case of COVID-19 but we all need to stand up especially the religious leaders in giving out the right messages to the Congregation.
The Secretary General of Inter-religious Council Rev. Fornnah encouraged every one to pass on the information to their Congregation/Jamat and they should not encourage 100 or more people in their churches or Mosques which means they should increase on the number of service.
