2022.YEAR OF PROMPT DELIVERY FOR THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH & SANITATION

“We did good last year but we CAN do even better in 2022” said the Minister of Health &
Sanitation, Dr. Austin Demby in one among many media encounters the Minister is currently bent on in showcasing the new year’s vision and set goals of the Health Ministry.

Significant to note in his goals center around refining Primary Health Care, construction and
rehabilitation of major hospitals all-round the country and significantly decreasing maternal
mortality rate.

Investment in physical infrastructure, strengthening health workforce (that caters for diligence and professionalism) and provide adequate quality drugs compound key strategies of the Minister in ensuring a robust gold standard health care service delivery for the people of Sierra Leone.

The year of delivery will deliberately concert efforts towards hammering the maternal mortality rate from 1,360 per 100,000 live births to 300. These efforts will encapsulate massive health education especially for teenagers who represent 14 percent of these deaths. Ensure the ministry has a data monitoring system for pregnant women wherein relevant interventions can be applied to regions of concern.
