Sierra Leone Hits Over 70% COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage
The ambitious benchmark of Sierra Leone attaining the regional target of 70% fully vaccinated target population against COVID-19 has finally been attained.
At a press conference in the MoHS, the WHO County Team, UNICEF, US CDC and other national and international partners commended the great work Sierra Leone has done, having attained over 70% COVID-19 vaccination coverage for the country’s targeted population.
Sierra Leone is one of four countries in Africa to have achieved this success.
As a ministry we are proud of our valued vaccinators and mobilizers. As foot soldiers, they traverse through the most difficult terrains and walk long distances to ensure that people are vaccinated. Similarly, our partners, media houses, vaccine champions and ambassadors and key community stakeholders have all made meaningful contributions.
