Doctors with Africa (Cuamm) and Irish Aid have joined forces to bring hope to young children in Pujehun district

Doctors with Africa (Cuamm) and Irish Aid have joined forces to bring hope to young children in Pujehun district, Sierra Leone. On June 13th, 2023, they donated life-saving items worth thousands of Leones to the Pujehun government hospital.

The focus of this donation is to improve the nutritional status of children under five, especially those suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) at the inpatient facility. The donation included high-energy biscuits, therapeutic milk, and vitamin supplements that will help boost the immune systems of these children. The hospital staff expressed their gratitude to Doctors with Africa (Cuamm) and Irish Aid who have shown great compassion towards their fellow citizens. This donation is a testament to the power of collective action and the importance of investing in the health and well-being of children, who are the future of Sierra Leone. It is hoped that this act of kindness will inspire others to follow in their footsteps and contribute towards making a positive impact in the health sector. The children who received these life-saving items will now have a better chance at survival and recovery, thanks to the generosity and selflessness of these donors. This is a shining example of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of those who need it most.

The items were carefully selected based on a thorough needs assessment. Dr. Wurie, the hospital’s medical superintendent, expressed deep gratitude for the timely donation and highlighted its impact on the children’s well-being. Matron Patricia, the Quality of Care Officer, also thanked Cuamm and Irish Aid for enhancing patient care and reducing fatalities.

The hospital management team accepted the donation and committed to ensuring its proper use. This act of kindness demonstrates the power of unity and compassion to transform lives.
