Connaught Hospital Boost……
Connaught Hospital is one of the oldest health facilities in Sierra Leone and represents the face of health care in the country. Nevertheless, it has faced numerous challenges ranging from administrative to palpable inadequacies.
The Ministry of Health and Sanitation, which is tasked with the responsibility to regulate and superintend all government hospitals across the country is tremendously putting all it’s strength towards boosting the health sector and uplifting the face of public hospitals in the country.
On Wednesday, 9th June, 2021, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has supplied a four-truck load of medical items (PPEs, beds, wheelchairs and other equipment) to Connaught Hospital.
During the presentation, the Honorable Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Austin Demby relayed that the supplies were one amongst many indications of unsparing dedication towards the transformation of Connaught Hospital and restoration of it’s rightful position across Africa.
He continued that these items will help support health care workers at Connaught Hospital in the dispensation of their duties.
Dr. Demby disclosed that the ministry has set aside 39 Billion Leones to support, restructure and capacitate Mortuary Services right across the country.
Upon the presentation the Senior Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Morie Momoh announced the new management of Connaught Hospital who will, in consultation with the ministry champion Connaught Hospital’s transformative campaign. The principal team comprises of the Medical Director, Matron and Hospital Secretary.
The Permanent Secretary thanked the outgoing team for the work they had done for the past years done and assured the newly posted personnel of the ministry’s unflinching support in giving the hospital a new face.
Receiving the items, the new Medical Director of Connaught Hospital, Dr. Mustapha Kabba thanked the Ministry for presenting him with the opportunity to work for the people, he said that the items will be utilized judiciously and promised to work to the best of his ability in ensuring that Connaught Hospital will be a place to write good about.
