The Mobile Health Clinic of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has on Sunday 11th September 2022 departed from Freetown to the provinces, specifically to the District of Kambia and Kenema, to provide treatment to Sierra Leoneans.
In her comments, Dr. Yeabu Kargbo who is the Health Superintendent for the Mobile Health Clinic explained that the clinic is an integral project of the Ministry of Health that confirms Sierra Leoneans receive the best healthcare.
She disclosed that the mobile health clinic was made possible by China following the donation of 4 medically furnished buses to the Government of Sierra Leone to provide medical treatment to citizens in hard to reach and isolated communities.
Dr. Kargbo mentioned that the clinic provides free screening and medical treatment for people with high blood pressure, heart complications, malaria, diabetes, typhoid, heart complications, and a lot more and she also admitted that laboratories are also available in the clinic.
She advised citizens not to regard the mobile clinic as a political thing but should rather consider it as a great health benefit and whereby also stating that every patient will be treated with dignity and referrals will also be done for patients with acute medical disorders.
Dr. Kargbo called on colleague Sierra Leonean doctors abroad to come and help treat the sick and less privilege Sierra Leoneans and she also admitted that there are challenges involved in accessing healthcare across the country.
In his remarks, Harold Thomas who doubles as Health Education Programmed Manager and Risk Communication Lead at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation heightened that the mobile health clinic also seeks to provide the people of Sierra Leone with COVID-19 vaccination. He further mentioned that the Ministry of Health and Sanitation is primarily focused on health promotion and the prevention and treatment of diseases.
