NaCOVERC has been able to negotiate with representatives of aggrieve workers for the payment of risk allowances.

The Chairman of the National Covid-19 Emergency Response Center Dr. Amara Jambai has said that despite financial challenges on the part of government, NaCOVERC has been able to negotiate with representatives of aggrieve workers for the payment of risk allowances.  

He made this statement during a press briefing at NaCOVERC Headquarters in Freetown.

Consequent to several strike actions by workers of NaCOVERC over issues bothering around risk allowances, efforts were made to remedy the situation, key among was a negotiation process with aggrieved parties. The process was concluded with 50% payment margin.

 

Addressing press men on the issue, Chairman Dr. Amara Jambai said when he assumed office in January; he inherited the problem of verification and placement of certain staff supposed to receive risk allowances. He added that he spent two months trying to sanitize the process which has produced dividend.

According to the Spokes Person, Solomon Jamiru, aside settling arrears of risk allowances, Sierra Leone has performed exceptionally  well in the management of the pandemic. He added that according to an inter action review which is applauded by WHO, Sierra Leone together with Senegal and the Gambia stood out in terms of risk communication and social mobilization.
